Tip for Haircut

Get a Great Haircut
Sit up straight. Don't cross your legs when you sit in the stylist's chair -- it skews your posture, so your cut could be uneven once you stand up. Instead, sit up in the chair, legs uncrossed.

Kitchen Tips and Techniques

Misc. Cooking Time Savers

  • I never peel potatoes for anything: mashed potatoes, potato soup, potato salad, etc. If you scrub the potatoes well with a wire brush (much quicker than peeling), you'll find that you don't even notice the skins. And they say all the nutrients are in the skins anyway, so it's healthy, too.
  • When making side dishes out of a box (like Au Gratin potatoes), the directions always say to boil the water first. I never do. I just use hot water, and it always turns out just fine.
  • When making fancy powdered soup mixes that call for just water, use half milk and half water. You'll get much thicker, creamier results.
  • Keep frozen mashed potatoes and hash brown potatos on hand. They’re great time savers when it comes to throwing together a casserole or quickie meal.
  • Use your crock pot. If you don’t have one - get one! You can throw your ingredients in before leaving for work in the morning - let it cook all day - and presto! Dinner’s ready when you get home!

 Chilli Garnish

1. Cut flesh into strips as close to the stem as possible with a small pair of scissors.
2. Pierce a hole in the top of the chilli.
3. Remove the seeds and white membrane from the chilli.

4. Soak cut chillies in ice water for 30 minutes until the petals curl.

 Using Chopsticks

1. Extend the little finger and the thumb with an open palm. Grip the topic of the chopstick with the thumb, as shown, pressing it agains the ring and little fingers.
2. Grip the topic of the chopstick with the thumb, as shown, pressing it agains the ring and little fingers.
3. This top chopstick is the one that moves - the other remains firmly held agains the ring finger and little finger. easy, isn't it!
